1.What is a Green Card? A green card is a document in which details of the documents of vehicle, such as fitness certificate, Road permit, tax deposit certificate, insurance certificate, pollution certificate details will be compiled.

2.Which category of vehicles will be provided with a green card? Green Card is mandatory for all public service vehicles (Bus, Taxi cab and Maxi cab) going on Chardham Yatra.

3.What is a trip card? Trip card is a document which contains the details of the records related to the driver’s license and the details of the passengers traveling in the vehicle

.4.Where can I apply for a Green Card / Trip Card? The application for green card / trip card can be made online through departmental website at greencard.uk.gov.in

5.Where can I get a green card? Green card can be obtained from any regional transport office / sub regional transport office of Uttarakhand state on an online application basis.

6.Where can I get a trip card? Trip cards for all type of vehicles are issued through online mode only.

7.Is it necessary to go to the transport office for a green card? Green card can be obtained after physical inspection from any transport office in Uttarakhand.

8.What is the validity period of a green card? The validity of the green card will be valid till 30 November of each year or till the validity of any documents mentioned in the green card, whichever is less.

10.What is Hill Endorsement? As per rule 195 of Uttarakhand Motor Vehicles Rules, 2011, “no person shall drive a public service vehicle or a goods vehicle on a Hill road ,unless his license to drive such public service vehicle or goods vehicle has been endorsed by a registering authority with a permission to drive on hill roads situated within the jurisdiction of such registering authority or in the case of a public service vehicle hired by tourists, by the registering authority of the state with which a reciprocal arrangements on the point have been agreed upon.Thus, hill endorsement on a license is mandatory for driving a commercial vehicle on hill routes.

11.If I do not want to go to Chardham Yatra, but i want to go to the other region of Uttarakhand. Do I still have to take a green card / trip card? Green Card / Trip Card have been made mandetory only for public service vehicles engaged in the transportation of passengers traveling on the hill routes on religious journeys. Green cards are not required to travel to the hill area for any other purpose.

12.Is it necessary to have a technical inspection of the vehicle to get a green card or not? Yes vehicle owner have to produce the vehicle for inspection.

13.What is the size of the bus up to which a green card can be issued? In the state of Uttarakhand, it is not permitted to issue green cards to buses having larger than 4300 mm wheelbase and overhang more than 60 percent of wheelbase, the overall width should not exceed 2500mm.

14.I am a private car driver holding a valid license, can I drive a taxi for Chardham Yatra? Yes

15.Does the private license holder also need to get his license hill endorsed for driving a taxi in hill routes? Hill endorsement of license is mandatory for driving a commercial vehicle on hill routes, so a driver holding a private license is also required to get a hill endorsement in the event of driving a commercial vehicle.

16.Is it necessary to take a green card for Goods vehicles? No, The green card has been made mandetory for public service vehicles only.

17.If I want to drive my private car to Chardham, do I also have to get a green card / trip card? No, Provision of Green Card / Trip Card are only for public service vehicles.

18.What are the valid documents required for getting a green card? The following valid documents are required for getting a green card:

  1. Registration certificate.
  2. Uttarakhand State Road Tax Deposit Certificate.
  3. Fitness Certificate.
  4. Permit of Uttarakhand state.
  5. Insurance certificate of the vehicle.
  6. Pollution control certificate.

19.What is the prescribed fee for issuing a green card? The following fees will be payable for the green card:

  1. For light motor vehicles-Rs 400.00
  2. For medium motor vehicle-Rs 600.00
  3. For heavy motor vehicle-Rs 600.00
  • The above fees will be paid by the vehicle owner at the time of green card application only through online mode.

20.What is the prescribed fee for issuing a Trip Card? No fee will be payable for the card.

21.What documents are required for a trip card? The following documents are required for the trip card: –

  1. Valid Driver License.
  2. Hill endorsement on driver’s license,
  3. Uttarakhand state permit.
  4. Tax payment certificate of Uttarakhand state.
  5. List of passengers traveling in the vehicle in the prescribed format.

22.Can the registration number of the vehicle on the green card be changed? No, Other vehicle should get new green card.

23.If I go to Chardham Yatra more than once, do I have to make a new green card each time? During the period of validity of green card ,any number of trips can be made during the entire chardham yatra period. It is mandatory to update the green card once it expires.

24.If I go to Chardham Yatra more than once, do I get a new trip card every time? yes,a Trip card has to be made for each time it travels.

25.If I make a green card and I do not want to travel, will the fee I deposited be refunded to me? The fee payable for the green card is non-refundable.

26.Where can the Uttarakhand state’s motor vehicle tax be deposited? Uttarakhand State Motor Vehicle Tax can be deposited through Online Mode on parivahan.gov.in.web through check post link and also on offline mode by presenting Original documents of vehicles at the transport tax collection centers established on the border of Uttarakhand state.

27.Do I have to make different green cards for each dham or the same green card can be used for full travel? A single green card is sufficient for all dhams.

28.Will the green card be valid in Uttarakhand state and other states also? The green card system has been implemented only for religious pilgrimage of Uttarakhand state. Hence it is valid only for the state of Uttarakhand.
